JM&Co. Accountancy is working in partnership with a business who have over 30 years’ experience within their trade, as they actively recruit an *** Accounts Assistant *** to join their finance team.
Reporting to the Accounts Manager and working as part of a small and friendly team, the main purpose of this role will be general accounts administration, processing invoices and helping to maintain the ledger.
Specific Responsibilities of the Accounts Assistant role include:
Verify, check, code and input weekly supplier, contractor and staff invoices.
Liaise with the team with regard to payment queries.
Issue remittances and payments weekly and monthly.
Ensure weekly payments are processed accurately.
Perform monthly statement reconciliations.
Process monthly CIS return to HMRC and issue Statements of Deductions to subcontractors (full training can be given).
Code and input purchase ledger invoices.
Scan and file purchase ledger / contractor ledger invoices.
Liaise with Buying department to ensure queries are resolved in a timely manner.
Assist with reconciliation of monthly supplier statements.
Liaise with suppliers regarding payment queries and missing invoices.
Assist with payroll duties and support others within the accounts department when necessary.
Education and Training
Good standard of numeracy and literacy.
Good IT skills (MS Excel).
AAT part qualified / qualified desirable although not essential.
Skills and Abilities
Ability to work accurately with attention to detail.
Ability to use initiative and willing to challenge.
Inquisitive with strong problem-solving skills.
Ability to plan and prioritise workload.
You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills and be used to working to deadlines. A working knowledge of a computerised accounting system is desirable (not essential) however candidates must have working knowledge of MS Excel. Previous accounting and/or payroll experience would be useful.
Salary pro rata if part time.
